About Us

Benedikt Imports is a private family-owned business established in 1966. Isaac Benedikt started the business out of a garage in Elsternwick, supplying the Kosher food requirements of the Jewish community. As demand for his products grew, Isaac moved to a warehouse in Prahran in the 1970s and later to a larger manufacturing/distribution warehouse in the same suburb.
As business grew, Eddy Eljon, Isaac’s brother-in law, joined the business in 1973, and continues to manage the operations of the business to this day.
Expansion continued with a supply to both the food service and retail sectors. The business soon outgrew the Prahran premises.
In 1998 the company moved to the current premises in Moorabbin, whose area is approximately 20,000 square metres.
Two sons joined the company’s management ranks; namely Eli in 1993 and Mordi in 2001, and today they look to further expand the business within Australia and overseas.
For many years Benedikt Imports has been the largest importer of Kosher food in Australia and the biggest supplier of Kosher food to the major supermarket chains in Australia.  Our company is the sole agent for Nestlé’s Osem in Israel, and has now brought the world-renowned Baron Herzog Wines (made in the United States) to Australia.
Our company continues to serve its customers in Australia, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand, as well as growing into the mainstream food service and retail outlets.
Benedikt Imports sources products from all corners of the world for its customers. The company has a strong private label focus and works closely with retail customers to source quality suppliers.
The warehouse contains 800 lines, with about 80% retail and 20% food service. A significant number of these lines are Dairy-Free, and many products are Gluten-Free. We have a full range of Dry Goods, Confectionery, Biscuits and Cakes as well as frozen foods.
